VESSEL CASUALTY No. 01 of 2019

“Vessel Casualty Report gives details of vessels which have met with some casualty while carrying cargo from one Port to another and which may have resulted in (i) loss/damage to the cargo carried in the vessel or (ii) General Average Loss/Expenditure.

Please go through the Casualty Report and check whether your cargo had been carried in any of the vessels mentioned therein and check with your Cargo Handling Agents whether there is any loss/damage to your cargo.  If yes, we can help you in arranging survey and doing other formalities related to the Insurance Claim.

Even if there is no loss/damage to your cargo, there may be a General Average Loss/Expenditure incurred by other Cargo Owners /Shipping Co. for which the Shipping Company may send you notice demanding your share of loss. Similarly, in case your cargo is part of the General Average Loss, you need to recover the loss. In such events also, we can help you in completing the Insurance formalities”.

“YUSHENG366” – MMSI:412523170 – Flag: China – Type: Cargo Ship
On December 24, the “CMA CGM Norma” collided with the Chinese cargo ship “Yusheng 366”, 980 dwt (MMSI: 412523170) in the Pearl River estuary in pos. 22 16N 113 47 E, 20 miles SW of Hong Kong. The Chinese ship sank after the collision, its crew was rescued. The accommodation block remained protruding from the water. The container ship was coming from Nansha port and was bound for Singapore. It moored near the collision site for inspections and investigations. On December 26 she was still anchored in pos. 22° 3.68′ N 113° 51.90′ E.

“FULMAR S” –  IMO:9370082 – Flag: Barbados – Type: Cargo Ship
On December 25, the former “Diana”, now having been renamed “Fulmar S”, sailed from Tuzla after repairs of the damage suffered in the grounding in Haifa Bay on January 21. The ship moored off Bakriköy on Istanbul anchorage at 7.40 p.m. On December 27 she remained stationary in pos. 40° 57.78′ N 028° 53.63′ E.G765.

“VEERHAVEN VIII” –  MMSI:244620945 – Flag: Netherlands  – Type: Cargo Ship
On December 25, the “Veerhaven VIII” (EU-No.: 02322865) was in collision with a container ship on the Waal near the ferry pt. at Brakel. The pusher tug lost two barges with coal. A tank barge was in collision with the drifting barges. The fire brigade, police and Rijkswaterstaat were alerted. No one was injured. All three ships have suffered damage. Two ships proceeded in the direction of Gorinchem. The fire boat “Zuid Holland” escorted the container ship to Gorinchem. The “RWS 72” of Rijkswaterstaat guided ship traffic so that other ships could pass the incident site with caution. Also the “RWS 71” was deployed to the scene.

“REN JIAN 15” – IMO:9459278 – Flag: China  – Type: Cargo Ship
On December 26, the “Ren Jian 15” got out of control while manoeuvering to a berth at the Longxue Island Container Terminal in Nansha, Guangzhou. Despite tug assistance, the ship slammed into the berthed container ship “Hai Su 10”, and struck it at starboard side. It suffered heavy damage, jolted and listed, and containers fell onto the quay. The hull was breached with ensuing water ingress. Emergency and Maritime SAR teams were deployed and powerful pumps deployed to keep the ship afloat. The situation could apparently be brought under control. The “Ren Jian 15” suffered bow damage. No casualties, no injures reported.
