“Vessel Casualty Report gives details of vessels which have met with some casualty while carrying cargo from one Port to another and which may have resulted in (i) loss/damage to the cargo carried in the vessel or (ii) General Average Loss/Expenditure.
Please go through the Casualty Report and check whether your cargo had been carried in any of the vessels mentioned therein and check with your Cargo Handling Agents whether there is any loss/damage to your cargo. If yes, we can help you in arranging survey and doing other formalities related to the Insurance Claim.
Even if there is no loss/damage to your cargo, there may be a General Average Loss/Expenditure incurred by other Cargo Owners /Shipping Co. for which the Shipping Company may send you notice demanding your share of loss. Similarly, in case your cargo is part of the General Average Loss, you need to recover the loss. In such events also, we can help you in completing the Insurance formalities”.

“NATALY” – IMO:9370288 – Flag: Antigua and Barbuda – Type: Cargo Ship
On March 1, the ‘Nataly’ was in a near collision with the ‘Norrland’ (IMO: 8818764) on the Elbe off Brunsbüttel. She was enroute from Norrköping to Teighmouth, and the Ukrainian captain steered the vessel towards the radar line in the middle of the fairway. The ‘Norrland’ was approaching towards Hamburg. During the change of the pilot off Brunsbüttel a dangerous course was remarked with both ships cruising each other. The pilot change was immediately aborted, and the master of the ‘Norroland’ changed course to avoid the threatening collision. The traffic control filed a charge against the master of the Nataly’ for endangering ship traffic. The vessel was ordered to berth in Cuxhaven for investigations of the water police. It berthed at 2.30 a.m. and was released at 5.10 a.m., resuming its voyage to Teignmouth with an ETA as of March 4, 4.30 p.m. Before, the captain had to deposit a safety fine of 3.000 Euro on request of the prosecutor in Itzehoe.
“NORDIC MALMOE” – IMO:9602679 – Flag: Liberia – Type: Cargo Ship
On February 28, the ‘Nordic Malmoe’, enroute from Murmansk to Fos sur Mer with 17 crew members and a cargo of 33.500 tons of coal on board, suffered a problem with its main engine cooling jacket in position 56 32 17.5 N, 007 23 57.5 W. and was stopped to carry out repairs. On Feb29 at 4.10 a.m. the repairs were completed and the vessel resumed its voyage with an ETA as of March 9.

“MSM DON” – IMO:9518971 – Flag: Cyprus –Type: Cargo Ship
On February 29, the ‘MSM Don’, en route from Calais to Las Palmas with 11 crew members on board, suffered an oil leak in the engine room on Feb 29, 2020. The ship dropped anchor in position 50 53 48 N, 001 20 46 E for repairs which required about six to seven hours to be completed. The CROSS Griz Nez took over when the vessel drifted towards the French SAR zone. The vessel had loaded 1751.26 tons of fiber optic cables. After repairs were completed, it resumed the voyage.

“NING SHUANG SHUN1106” – MMSI:413800511 – Flag: China – Type: Cargo Ship
On March 1, the ‘Ning Shuang Shun 1106’, 6000 dwt, collided with the fishing vessel ‘Zhelu Yu 80030’ in Taizhou, Zhejiang, and the inland watercraft sank. All four crew members have been rescued by the fishing boat. At 4:25 a.m. the MRCC Taizhou received a report about the accident five nautical miles south of Shandong, Wenling Jigu. The fishing vessel was stable. The MRCC Taizhou immediately launched an emergency response plan and organized rescue efforts. The patrol boats 07559, 0750, and 0751 were deployed to the site. A navigational warning was issued by the Taizhou Vessel Traffic Management Center (VTS). The Wenzhou Navigation Mark Office marked the sinking site. The four rescued crew members have been transferred to the ‘Hai Patrol No. 07559’. The ‘Ning Shuangshun 1106’ was loaded with yellow sand and sailed from Fujian to the Yangtze River. The crew was from Nanjing.
