“Vessel Casualty Report gives details of vessels which have met with some casualty while carrying cargo from one Port to another and which may have resulted in (i) loss/damage to the cargo carried in the vessel or (ii) General Average Loss/Expenditure.
Please go through the Casualty Report and check whether your cargo had been carried in any of the vessels mentioned therein and check with your Cargo Handling Agents whether there is any loss/damage to your cargo. If yes, we can help you in arranging survey and doing other formalities related to the Insurance Claim.
Even if there is no loss/damage to your cargo, there may be a General Average Loss/Expenditure incurred by other Cargo Owners /Shipping Co. for which the Shipping Company may send you notice demanding your share of loss. Similarly, in case your cargo is part of the General Average Loss, you need to recover the loss. In such events also, we can help you in completing the Insurance formalities”.

“ZEIN 1” – IMO:7622041 – Flag: Panama – Type: Cargo Ship
On November 9, the “Zein I” suffered an engine damage enroute from Rio Grande to Derince during the transit of the Canakkale Strait. The ship shifted to the anchorage of Karanlik liman where repair works commenced.

“THOMAS C” – IMO:9450820 – Flag: Marshall Islands – Type: Cargo Ship
On November 9, the ‘Thomas C’ ran aground at kilometer mark 160 on the Paraná river. The ship was proceeding upstream from Ponta Ubu to San Nicolas at that time. It was stuck in pos. 33° 53. 28′ N 058° 40.13′ W. The vessel was joined by the tug ‘Coopor Estibador I’.
“PREMIUM DO BRASIL” – IMO:9242089 – Flag: Liberia – Type: Cargo Ship
On November 17, the ‘Premium do Brasil’, en route from Ghent to Santos with a cargo of orange juice on board, suffered a high engine temperature, due to a jammed piston, and was anchored in position 51 13 24.0N 001 38 48.0E. Engine repairs were completed at 10.50 a.m., and the vessel resumed its voyage with an ETA as of November 29.

“GAMMA STAR” – IMO:7703259 – Flag: Sierra Leone – Type: Cargo Ship
On November 15, the ‘Gamma Star’ en route from Tuzla to Midia, in ballast condition, suffered a technical failure at the southern entrance of the Istanbul Strait in the morning of. Subsequently, the vessel was towed by the tug ‘Mehmetcik’ to the Istanbul anchorage and was safely secured under supervision of a pilot at 7 p.m. The strait passage permission was cancelled by the strait authority until completion of permanent repairs by the crew. On November 18 the ship remained stationary in pos. 40° 57.51′ N 028° 54.79′ E.
“NATALI” – IMO:8203543 – Flag: Togo – Type: Cargo Ship
On November 16, the ‘Natali’, en route from Izmir to Kherson in ballast condition, suffered a technical failure and was sheltered at Ayvalik Anchorage. Repair works were carried out by the crew. As of Nov 18, the ship remained stationary in pos. 39° 14.47′ N 026° 36.61′ E.

“LEA AUERBACH” – IMO:9358034 – Flag: Liberia – Type: Cargo Ship
On November 6, the ‘Lea Auerbach’ suffered an engine failure while transiting the Laredo Channel, British Columbia, in position 52 41 38.8 N, 129 00 57 W. The vessel anchored and the crew carried out repairs. On November 7 at 5 p.m., the ship berthed in Vancouver.
“CL RIZHAO” – IMO:9693771 – Flag: Hong Kong – Type: Cargo Ship
On November 9, the ‘CL Rizhao’ was assisted and refloated by the tug ‘Coopor Estibador II’. The vessel then proceeded to Ramallo Roads to be inspected. The Coastguard will perform a bathymetric survey in the grounding area before authorizing navigation through river km 342 kilometers after the ship which had been loaded with about 43,600 tonnes of soy meal at San Lorenzo had run aground with its draught of 10 meters close to San Nicolas.
NORD POLARIS” – IMO:9728198 – Flag: Panama – Type: Cargo Ship
On November 14, the ‘Nord Polaris’ was disabled due to main engine issues and went adrift off Vancouver Island in position 48 29 48 N, 125 18 31 W. The ship which was enroute from Sendai berthed at the Neptune Bulk in Vancouver on November 18 at 12.30 a.m.

“THOMAS C” – IMO: 9450820 – Flag: Marshall Islands – Type: Cargo Ship
On October 28th, 2019 the vessel THOMAS C sailed from Ponta Do Ubu, Brazil, laden with 31,890 MT of Granulated Blast Furnace Slag in bulk, bound for San Nicolas, discharging port, Argentina.
The vessel arrived at the entrance of the River Plate, on November 1st, 2019 , then off to La Plata port and finally to commence its upstream sailing through Parana River. It is here on the 8th of November at 17:14LT, that the ship started turning to starboard side because of the current effect, and finally ended running aground a couple of hours later.
General Average has been declared. Refloating and towing operations are currently being made.
