“DUZGIT ENDEAVOUR” – IMO:9581007 – Flag: Turkey – Type: Tanker
On January 24, the “Düzgit Endeavour” allided with the gate III of the great southern lock of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel upon entering the lock. The bulbous bow hit the rubber fender at the inner side of the gate. The holding device of the rubber strip suffered damage on a length of about one meter and must be renewed. The ship suffered no apparent damage and was able to continue its voyage after consultation with the association for transport and traffic management. It was underway from Rotterdam to Klaipeda, ETA January 26.

“E.R. SANTA BARBARA” – IMO:9285689 – Flag: Luxembourg – Type: Container Ship
On January 23, the “MSC Seattle” suffered engine failure, enrute from Croyton to Antwerp. The ship went adrift in south-west winds force 5-7 (fresh breeze-near gale), slight or moderate, becoming rough later with force 9 (severe gale) for a time. The crew managed to repair the damage the same day, so that the ship resumed its voyage and arrived in Antwerp on January 24 where it berthed in the Deurgang (transit) Dock.

“NACI ATABEY” – IMO:9006435 – Flag: Panama – Type: General Cargo Ship
On January 20, the “Naci Atabey”, while departing from the port of Azov en route to Izmir with a cargo of grain, reported that it had experienced main engine problems, which resulted in the vessel losing navigational control, in the vicinity of Azov. The Vessel Traffic Services at Taganrog and Azov informed all vessels in the area that the ship was drifting out of control. After about 30 minutes, the crew managed to repair the main engine and was able to continue its passage to Izmir.

“JAMILA” –    IMO:9477359 – Flag: Liberia – Type: Container Ship    
On January 24, the “Jamila” was in collision with the Peruvian fishing vessel “Senor de la Misericordia” which left Paita port without authorization and with an unknown number of people on board. At least three were reported dead, and SAR operation was under way. On January 26 the “Jamila” was docked at Paita, where an investigation was to be carried out. After the collision, the ship had initially remained at the accident site and was actively engaged in SAR. She had been en route from Callao, where she had sailed on January 23, to Paita, Peru.
